As we approach the 2023 Presidential elections, the race for who will occupy Aso Rock continues to get tougher and tougher. Top politicians across the political parties are beginning to declare interest in the race. In the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, some Politicians have already stated their interest while others are still making consultations.
A few days ago, the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu informed the President of his desire to run for the Presidency. Tinubu though has not informed the masses, from what he told the president it is clear that he will be telling the public in a matter of days.
Vice President Osinbajo, who is like an ally of Tinubu has been receiving calls to run for president. But with Tinubu telling the President that he is interested in the Presidential race, many are thinking that the Vice President, should drop any ambition about contesting for the Presidency and support his boss and Ally.
Considering the relationship between Tinubu and Osinbajo, and also the political benefit the Vice President has enjoyed through Tinubu, many are feeling that if the Vice President answer the calls to join the presidential race, it will be a show of ingratitude or betrayal to the APC leader. But in my view, it won’t be considered a betrayal to Tinubu if the Osinbajo goes on the accept the calls and declare an interest.
And this is because it is most likely that the APC leader may want an ally to succeed the President, should in case he missed out on the chance to succeed the President. I’m believing that the APC leader will even encourage Osinbajo to join the race also.
Do you think that the Vice President will not answer the calls to join the Presidential race, now that his Political boss and Ally has informed the President of his ambition to join the race?

SA motorists are now able to apply for or book motor vehicle licences and driving licences online instead of queuing at driving licence testing centres (DLTCs).
The department of transport has launched a bouquet of online services on the RTMC’s online platform here which has been rolled out nationally after initially being available in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.
The services include:
ADVERTISEMENT
online application, issuing and delivery of a motor vehicle licence and disc to the owner of the motor vehicle;
online application, issuing and delivery of a registration certificate of a motor vehicle to the title holder of the vehicle for financial institutions, large fleet operators and motor dealers;
online application and payment for a booking for renewal, in person, of a driving licence card at a driving licence testing centre;
online application and payment for a driving licence card delivery to the holder; and
provision of an electronic copy of an accident report.
The online notification of change of ownership of a motor vehicle by the title holder or owner will be implemented later.
Paying a R99 fee will get the driving licence card or vehicle licence disc delivered to your doorstep.
You still need to visit a DLTC to have your fingerprints taken and your eye test done, though the department plans to introduce online eye testing, where the test result will be automatically uploaded and linked to the user application.

While the online services do not eliminate the need for queuing, they have been introduced to improve service delivery and minimise the need for a motorist to visit a DLTC a number of times, said transport minister Fikile Mbalula.
“Motorists will be able to access most of the services they had to travel and queue for at a DLTC in the past from their homes and offices. The end goal is to eliminate queues once the full bouquet of online services has been implemented.”
These measures signal a break from the lethargic customer service, long queues and corruption with which South Africans have associated traffic-related services.
“The online system has been enhanced to allow financial institutions, insurance companies and vehicle dealerships to register vehicles directly on the NaTIS system.
“This will improve convenience and help to combat crime associated with the change of ownership of vehicles. The benefit of these services is that motorists and private companies will be transacting directly on the NaTIS, eliminating middlemen who fuelled corruption”.
Online vehicle licence renewals will enable the 2.4-million motorists renewing vehicle licence discs annually to avoid queues, fines and penalties for late renewal.
There is a huge backlog in the renewal of expired driving licence cards caused by the closure of DLTCs due to Covid-19, faulty equipment and systems and corruption where officials sold online block bookings for bribes. The backlog was worsened by the breakdown of the only machine able to print driver’s licence cards, which is back in action after being sent overseas for repairs.
In August, Mbalula extended the grace period for the renewal of expired driver’s licence cards to March 31 2022 due to the backlog. All learner’s licences, driving licence cards, temporary driving licences and professional driving permits that expired between March 26 2020 and August 31 2021 are deemed to be valid until the end of March.

Judge Warns Nigerian Secret Police, DSS Not To Barricade Court Premises Before Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial
The Department of the State Services, DSS has been ordered by A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja not to take over the security arrangement of the court on February 16 until 12pm when the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu on terrorism charges would kick off.
The directive was given to allow other judges to attend to other cases slated for their respective courts.
Justice Binta Nyako affirmed that trials of other cases had been aborted and they were made to suffer unnecessary adjournments each time Kanu’s trial took place due to heavy security presence and blockade of roads leading to the court.
The judge shifted the terrorism trial till 1pm on Wednesday, February 16, to ensure that other cases were accommodated before the commencement of Kanu’s trial.
Justice Binta told the DSS Director of Legal Services to convey the court’s decision to the highest authorities of the service for implementation in the interest of justice to other litigants.
A 15-count terrorism charge was slammed on Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and asked the court to discharge and acquit him without standing trial because the charges were incurably defective and not worth being defended.
It should be recalled that some Leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC, have declared their interest, to contest Presidential race in 2023.
Among the APC Leaders, who had declared their intentions to contest Presidential race under the Platform of the Party, is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC and the Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, There are some Presidential Aspirants in PDP, that have the financial strength, to compete with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023.
One of the PDP Presidential Aspirants, that has the financial strength, to compete with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is the Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku can compete with Tinubu in the Forthcoming Presidential Election, if the Leaders of the Party can give him the Presidential ticket.
It should be recalled that Atiku made his money, when he was in Custom service. He has many establishments, both in Nigeria and Abroad.
This is not the first time, Atiku Abubakar will be contesting for the Position of President. It should be recalled that Atiku compete with Late Chief MKO Abiola, who is the Presumed winner of 1993 Presidential Election. Though, he was Persuaded to step down for Abiola.
Atiku was able to contest Presidential race many times, because he has the financial Capacity to do so and he can still compete with Tinubu, if he could be given Presidential Ticket in 2023.
Though, Atiku has not openly declared his interest to contest Presidential race in 2023 but it was rumoured that, he may declare his intention to contest the Presidential race very soon.
Another Presidential Aspirant, under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, that also has the financial strength to compete with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is the former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.
Saraki can easily compete with Tinubu in 2023, if he could be given Presidential Ticket of the Party. It should be recalled that Senator Saraki was the former Governor of Kwara state for eight years. He became the Senator, to represent his Senatorial district for four years, and He was the Senate President at the eight Assembly.
Apart from the fact that Saraki attained all the Positions, His Late Father, Dr Olushola Saraki, was stupendously rich during his lifetime. This means that, Senator Saraki is financially buoyant, to compete with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2023.
It should be recalled that Senator Saraki was one of the PDP Presidential Aspirants, who had declared interest to contest Presidential race, under the Platform of the Party. And if he could emerge as Presidential Candidate of the Party, he is financially fit to compete with Tinubu.
